AI Use In Law School

AI use in law school is a hot-button topic at the moment. This is an image of a judge using a futuristic AI interface to add to the ambiance of the text below.

I asked an AI what the applications for AI use in law school were, and this was its response:

AI is making quite a splash in the world of law and law education. Here are a few ways AI is being used in law schools:

  1. Legal Research: AI can help law students conduct legal research more efficiently. It can sift through vast amounts of legal texts, cases, and statutes to find relevant information in a fraction of the time it would take a human.
  2. Case Prediction: Some AI tools can predict the outcome of legal disputes and cases based on historical data. This can be a valuable tool for law students to understand how judges make decisions and what factors influence the outcome of a case.
  3. Contract Analysis: AI can analyze contracts and other legal documents in seconds, highlighting any potential issues or areas of concern. This can help law students understand the intricacies of contract law and improve their contract drafting skills.
  4. Legal Writing: AI can assist in legal writing by suggesting edits, improving grammar, and ensuring the correct use of legal terminology. This can help law students improve their legal writing skills.
  5. Moot Court Practice: AI can simulate a courtroom environment for students to practice their arguments, helping them prepare for real-life court cases.
  6. Legal Ethics: AI can be used to teach students about legal ethics. For example, it can simulate ethical dilemmas and ask students to resolve them.

Remember, while AI can be a great tool for learning, it’s not a substitute for the critical thinking skills and legal expertise that come from years of study and practice. It’s a tool to enhance learning, not replace it.

I think the AI is right here. AI is yet another tool, to be used to supplement your legal education. It shouldn’t replace the critical thinking exercises needed to become a good lawyer. As such, you should use AI as a tool in law school, not a replacement for your brain.

To that end, AI can be an excellent tool for creating outlines. You can feed it cases to summarize, you can feed it outlines to merge into mega documents, and similar strategies. That being said, just like with Outlines, you need to fact check the work-product AI gives you to make sure it’s correct, because AI can be and often is, wrong.

If after creating a super awesome Outline using AI, you want to sell it (you totally should!), you can do so right here with us. Just click the button below and if you’re logged in, you’ll be directed to the ‘add outline upload’ form we have. Otherwise, you’ll be directed to create an account using your PayPal email, and from there you can start selling your Outlines, be they AI enhanced or manual.
